Switching from In-School Classes to Out-of-School Learning

As noted in the Division information about learning options this year, families can switch from in-school learning to out-of-school learning at any point in the school year. The decision to change learning preferences is made in consultation with school administration at the school of enrolment.

For senior high students considering switching from in-school classes to out-of-school learning for the start of Quarter 2—November 16—we recommend contacting your school office regarding your intentions by October 23. This will provide school staff with time to update information in our student information system as needed to help make the transition as smooth as possible. However, please know you can make this change at any point in time.

Elk Island Public Schools has established key points during the school year when students have the option of switching from out-of-school learning to in-school classes. For more information about future dates when students can make this out-of-school to in-school switch, refer to the School Entry/Exit Dates, 2020-21.

If you have questions about in-school and out-of-school learning, contact your child’s school directly.
